About the Event

Dean Homicki - Founder, Staebl PL & Staebl Academy, Product Designer & Accessibility Advocate.

Dean Homicki is a designer, systems thinker, and long-standing advocate for equitable access in the built environment. With over 30 years of experience across product design, urban mobility systems, and regulatory conformance, Dean brings a lived and technical understanding of how people interact with spaces, especially those navigating disability, ageing, and sensory challenges.

As the founder of Staebl Academy, Dean is pioneering a new approach to learning in the built environment that blends lived experience, regulatory insight, and real-time digital coaching through an interactive mobile assistant (no downloads required, just a phone and curiosity).

At this HFESA meet-up, Dean will introduce a short in-field scenario exercise at the intersection of Elizabeth and Queensberry Streets. Designed as a light and optional activity, this guided experience offers a feet-on-the-ground, conversation-starting look at how human factors thinking intersects with urban accessibility, sensory design, and built-in risk.
